To successfully install the Sentinel Secure software and launch your exam, ensure your system meets the following requirements and recommendations before your scheduled exam:
• Administrator rights to your computer or laptop with a Windows or Mac OS (your company’s computer may prohibit access to current web sites)
• A minimum of 50MB available space
• Monitor with a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater is recommended
• Webcam and microphone (built-in or external)
• Mouse and keyboard with an English (QWERTY) layout (you must establish the keyboard layout before installing the Sentinel Secure software; otherwise, it will fail)
• Download the Sentinel Secure software and create your Biometric profile
o Launching the Sentinel Secure software locks your browser, and you will not be able to access any applications or documents on your computer. Talend recommends printing the Sentinel Secure software and Biometric setup instructions included in your registration email.
o During the exam, Webassessor uses biometric authentication to match keystroke patterns and webcam facial recognition. Talend recommends enrolling and completing the Biometric setup 48 to 24 hours prior to your exam.
o Download links for Sentinel Secure and Biometric are also available in your Talend Webassessor portal. Log in to the Webassessor portal, and click My Assessments from the top navigation menu.
• Strong internet access with at least 1 Mb/s per upload and download
o Conduct a System Readiness Check to test your internet speed.
• Select a QUIET place with ZERO INTERRUPTIONS to take your exam
Talend Certifications are online proctored exams (the proctor supervises you at a distance and records exam activities).
Your browser is locked to prevent you from accessing any resources
No resources are allowed in the exam (no note-taking, no documentation).
• Online:
After you launch your exam, the Sentinel Secure software performs facial recognition and keystroke biometric authentication. Talend recommends having identification available on the day of your exam.
• Onsite (Testing Center):
The testing center requires two forms of photo identification (passport or national identity card), which are verified and recorded. You also need to provide the Test Taker Authorization Code from your confirmation email. DO NOT bring personal items with you to the testing center.
The Talend Certification Program requires candidates to accept the Exam Agreement Rules and Responsibilities before taking an exam to ensure the integrity of the exams and Talend Certification Program.
This agreement applies to the Talend Certification Exam Agreement Terms and Conditions as set forth by Talend and by Kryterion, Inc. including cooperating with any investigation into testing irregularities and testing misconduct.
Any fraudulent activities recorded can be immediate grounds to disqualify a candidate from passing an exam and prohibit a candidate from taking any other Talend certification exams.
In addition, Talend reserves the right to pursue any and all remedies in law or equity for any breach of these Exam rules.
Go to the Kryterion Candidate Community portal, select the Contact Support tab to access self-help tools, articles, videos related to your account and scheduling, online proctoring, and onsite proctoring
If you need immediate help with issues such as Sentinel Secure software, error codes, or bandwidth issues, you can open a Chat with an Expert session to receive immediate assistance (communication is supported in various languages).
If necessary, you can also open a customer-support case using their convenient support-case web form.
Escalate to customercare@talend.com only if you are unable to resolve the issue using the Certification FAQ or Kryterion Candidate Community portal. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response as some inquiries require a third-party response.
When emailing customercare, provide the following:
• Subject line, for example, Talend Certification, Talend Badge, Talend Academy, or Partner Learning
• Name and Username
• Company relationship, for example, Talend employee, Partner, or Customer
• Reason for the inquiry, for example, “I need to reschedule my [title] exam”; “I have not received my [title] certification badge”
• When requesting for a reschedule, include the new date and time you want
Your passphrase is the legal name (first and last name) as presented on your Webassessor account, for example, John Tech.
This information is included in your Exam Registration notification email.
The Launch button appears 10 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start and remains visible for 30 minutes, or until you click it to begin.
Click the Launch button to initiate the biometric factors verification like the one you completed during enrollment. This process implements facial recognition and keystroke verification.
Note: You must use the Shift key for capital letters instead of the Caps Lock key.
After you complete the biometric authentication, Webassessor displays the Video Camera Preview page to test and verify your microphone and camera.
Your proctor may require an exam security check prior to starting the exam, which might include ID confirmation and a 360-degree pan of your testing environment.
Should you experience any issues during your exam, you can self-escalate a message within the Sentinel Secure software by selecting the ? button, which appears as a question mark in the upper right corner of the screen. This button generates a chat start a session with a Kryterion technician. The request connection is not established immediately; you can continue to proceed through the exam until a technician acknowledges the request.
All proctored exam sessions are recorded and documented. If, during the exam, you are not meeting the requirements for online proctoring, the proctor will send you an alert on the screen. You must comply with all messages provided by these alerts. Failure to comply with the Exam Agreement, proctor instructions, policies, or testing requirements may result in exam suspension.
If you are suspected of cheating or tampering with Kryterion’s software, using an audio scrambler or jammers, or if an additional person is detected in your testing environment, the exam will be immediately terminated. These types of activities are reported to the Talend Certification Program management, along with audio and video evidence of the infraction. This information is shared with Talend managers, Partner Learning, and Company managers and shall be subject to disciplinary actions, including restriction, possible loss of privileges, suspension, or termination.
To ensure you have a successful testing outcome, your testing area must meet the following requirements:
• Appear 15 minutes prior (check-in process). Being late is not an option. If you anticipate a delay, reschedule your exam for a more convenient time. Otherwise, your exam will be marked as a NO SHOW.
• Ensure you have sufficient lighting.
• Your testing area must be quiet and free from distractions (no other individuals are allowed in the testing area).
• TURN OFF CELLPHONE and SMART WATCH and store them out of sight during the exam.
• Eyes must remain focused on the monitor.
• If you wear glasses, it is advised to keep them on during the exam.
• Webcam must provide a view of your computer/laptop, keyboard, mouse, your hands, and full-face with a minimum view of 12 inches (30 centimeters) of your keyboard area.
• A proctor will instruct you to provide a pan of your testing environment, which requires a 360-degree view of all four corners of your testing environment.
• Desk should be clutter-free and contain only the approved equipment described in this guide.
• If you are using your company’s workspace, additional monitors must be unplugged or turned off. Displays on walls or whiteboards will be inspected.
• Headphones or a earpiece are not permitted. (Exceptions may be permitted to troubleshoot audio or microphone issues).
• Disconnecting the camera at any time during the exam is not permitted.
• Eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted.
• Breaks are not allowed. Leaving the testing area for any reason is not permitted. (Personal time does not postpone the exam time; the clock will continue.)
If your environment does not pass the inspection, YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO PROCEED with taking the exam.
You are allowed 3 attempts per exam. A payment or new voucher is required for each exam retake.
If you do not achieve a passing score on your first attempt, you must allow 48 hours before retaking the exam.
If you fail the exam on your second attempt, you must wait 14 calendar days from the previous test date before retaking the exam for the third and final attempt.
After the third and failed attempt, you will be blocked from registering for the attempted exam until a new exam is released.
If you fail on the second attempt, you may want to reconsider how you are preparing for the exam. Talend recommends that you revisit the training materials, and take the practice test to reevaluate the skills measured by the exam.
All waiting periods are system enforced; you will not be allowed to reschedule the exam for a date prior to the waiting period being satisfied.
Onsite exams can be canceled no later than 72 hours prior to the scheduled exam time, and Online exams no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled exam time without incurring a Kryterion fee.
If you want to reschedule or cancel an exam, log in to your Webassessor account, find the exam which you wish to reschedule or cancel. Click the Reschedule/Cancel link and follow the on-screen instructions. Contact customercare@talend.com to reschedule exams with the Assessment status of Expired or In Progress (within 24 hours).
Important: There may be a fee for no-shows, reschedules, or cancellations within 24 hours of your Online scheduled exam start time or 72 hours before your Onsite scheduled exam time. The exam fee is non-refundable.
To maintain current technology and job role changes, the number of questions and time allowed on an exam is subject to change. Questions are multiple-choice and multiple responses (more than one correct answer).
You can find details and preparation recommendations for each exam on the Talend Certification Exams page.
The best way to prepare for an exam is to practice the skills listed in the exam overview, available on the Talend Certification Exams page. Each overview provides information about the exam, recommended learning plans, use cases, and exam topics. Once you are confident, take the practice test to assess your knowledge.
Talend professional exams are designed as the next step beyond testing theoretical knowledge by validating hands-on implementation skills. Candidates are required to give a real-world use case that must be implemented within the defined period of the exam to successfully attain a credential.
You are expected to have at least 6 months of on-the-job experience with the product and be familiar with all publicly available resources and related product documentation.
Talend Academy offers training courses, case studies, and preparation courses that include a practice test to help you prepare.
You need a Talend Academy learning subscription to access these courses, or you can take instructor-led training.
If Talend learns that you used a certification brain dump or exam dump site to prepare for an exam, you will be permanently banned or prohibited from taking any future Talend Certification exams. Talend will notify your manager, which may lead to job loss or decertification from the Talend Certification Program. In addition, test scores and certifications, if applicable, may be revoked. These actions may be taken even if you did not intend to defraud the Talend Certification Program.
You can request an appeal by submitting an Appeal Request to certificationprogram@talend.com.
Appeal requests should include the following:
• Name/username
• Exam name
• Exam date
• Delivery type (online or onsite (testing center))
• Reason for suspension or ban (include notification or transcripts)
• Your appeal for being reinstated to the certification program or allowed to retake an exam
Talend Certification Program will review the appeal request, conduct a thorough investigation, and communicate directly with you regarding the conclusion of the investigation and final appeal decision.
Note: An appeal can take 30 days or more to process, depending on the parties and inquiries involved.
You can navigate backward and forward, revisit and modify your answers before submitting the test. Once you click the Submit button or leave the exam area, you will not be able to review the questions associated with the exam.
No, you are not penalized for answering incorrectly. All questions are worth one point, regardless of what you must do to answer the question. You need to mark the answers completely and correctly to be awarded the point.
Talend subject matter experts determine the minimum passing score for all Talend Certification exams, which can vary between exams and versions. For more information about the exam cut score, see the Talend Certification Exams page.
To view your score percentage, log in to your Webassessor account, select My Assessments, go to Completed Exam, and then click Pass or Fail.
Some results are delivered immediately on-screen after submission.
You will receive an email result notification with your Pass or Fail status within a few minutes after completing the exam. A PDF certificate is attached on successfully completing the exam. For security reasons, the test and individual test questions are not available for review after taking the test.
The score results include an overall percentage score on the test, as well as a range to indicate how well you performed on each section of the exam. This information is provided to help you prepare for a subsequent attempt. It is not intended to provide information on the precise number of questions answered correctly in any given section, or on the test overall.
The Test Center will not print the results.
Log in to your account and select Registrations. Click the Result Pass link and then click the Test Completion Email button. A certificate will be sent to the email address listed on the account.
